Case Study: Performance Marketing for Prezent AI
Prezent.ai is an AI-powered enterprise presentation platform trusted by 45 of the top 50 biopharma companies. Their platform combines contextual AI, brand compliance, and expert services to help enterprise teams create high-impact presentations at scale.
With their Series B funding round completed and aggressive growth targets for 2025, Prezent.ai needed a performance marketing agency to drive qualified enterprise trials across North America. They approached PromotEdge Digital to build and execute a paid acquisition strategy that could deliver predictable, scalable results.
The engagement ran for three months with a total ad spend of $30,000 at $10,000 per month across Google Ads and LinkedIn — the two highest-intent channels for enterprise SaaS.
The Goal
The primary objective was to generate qualified enterprise leads — specifically directors, VPs, and C-suite executives at mid-to-large organizations who would book calls with the Prezent.ai sales team.
Our KPIs were clear: drive 80+ qualified bookings over 90 days, maintain a cost-per-lead under $375, and achieve a minimum 3.5x return on ad spend. Secondary goals included building retargeting pools and establishing performance benchmarks for long-term scaling.
Key Challenges
- High competition in AI SaaS — The AI productivity tool space is crowded with well-funded competitors spending heavily on paid search and social. Standing out required sharp messaging and precise targeting.
- Enterprise sales cycle complexity — Prezent.ai sells to large organizations with multiple stakeholders. A single booking is just the start — the real challenge was attracting the right decision-makers, not just curious testers.
- Niche audience definition — The ideal customer profile — enterprise communication teams in regulated industries like life sciences and tech — is narrow. Broad targeting would burn the budget fast.
- Creative fatigue risk — In a fast-moving market, creative freshness is critical. We needed a testing framework to keep messaging sharp and avoid audience fatigue within the 90-day window.
Research & Insights
Primary Research
We conducted stakeholder interviews with Prezent.ai’s sales and customer success teams to understand what makes a lead “sales-ready.” Key insight: leads from companies with 500+ employees and existing presentation pain points (brand inconsistency, long production cycles) closed at 4x the rate of smaller prospects.
We also analyzed their CRM data to identify the common traits of their best customers. The patterns were clear — life sciences, consulting, and technology verticals showed the highest lifetime value and fastest sales cycles.
Secondary Research
Competitive analysis revealed that most competitors were bidding aggressively on generic terms like “AI presentation tool” and “presentation maker.” CPCs in this space ranged from $8–$25. However, long-tail enterprise keywords — “enterprise presentation software,” “brand-compliant presentation platform,” and “life sciences presentation tool” — had lower competition and significantly higher intent.
LinkedIn audience research showed that targeting by job title (Director of Communications, VP of Medical Affairs, Chief of Staff) combined with company size (1,000+ employees) and industry filters delivered the most relevant impressions.
Our Strategy
Instead of following the category playbook — competing head-to-head on generic AI keywords — we flipped the script. Our strategy focused on positioning Prezent.ai as the enterprise-grade solution for regulated industries, not just another AI slide tool.
| Category Cliche | Our New POV |
|---|---|
| Generic AI presentation tool | Enterprise communication platform for regulated industries |
| Target: Everyone who makes slides | Target: Enterprise teams with brand compliance needs |
| Message: Faster slides with AI | Message: Brand-compliant, industry-specific presentations at scale |
| Compete on features & price | Compete on enterprise value & compliance |
This positioning shift allowed us to command premium attention from high-value prospects while avoiding the bloodbath of generic keyword auctions
Channel Mix & Budget Allocation
We allocated the $10,000 monthly budget strategically across two core channels:
| Channel | Monthly Budget | Primary Objective |
|---|---|---|
| Google Ads (Search) | $5,500 | Capture high-intent search traffic |
| LinkedIn Ads | $4,500 | Targeted reach to decision-makers |
Google Ads captured bottom-funnel intent — people actively searching for enterprise presentation solutions. LinkedIn built awareness among decision-makers who might not be searching yet but fit the ideal customer profile perfectly.
Audience Targeting
Precision was everything. We built three core audience tiers:
- Tier 1 — High Intent (40% of budget) — In-market segments searching for enterprise presentation software, brand compliance tools, and sales enablement platforms. Keywords included exact match variations of Prezent.ai’s core use cases.
- Tier 2 — Lookalike & Retargeting (35% of budget) — Website visitors who engaged with pricing or case study pages, plus lookalike audiences modeled from Prezent.ai’s best customers.
- Tier 3 — Awareness (25% of budget) — Job title-based targeting on LinkedIn — Directors and VPs in Communications, Medical Affairs, Commercial Operations, and Chief of Staff roles at 1,000+ employee companies in life sciences, consulting, and technology.
Creative Strategy
Our ad creative followed a simple but effective framework: Problem → Agitation → Solution → Proof.
For Google search ads, we emphasized enterprise-specific value props — brand compliance, life sciences expertise, overnight expert services — rather than generic AI features. The ad copy highlighted pain points like “Frankenstein decks” and “hours wasted on formatting.”
LinkedIn creative took a thought leadership angle. We promoted webinars on enterprise communication best practices, shared ROI calculators, and ran carousel ads showcasing customer success metrics (70% efficiency gain, $1.1M agency cost savings).
Campaign Execution
Week 1–2: Campaign setup, tracking implementation, and initial creative testing. We deployed 4 Google ad groups and 3 LinkedIn campaigns with 2 creative variants each.
Week 3–6: Optimization phase. We doubled down on the best-performing audiences and paused underperformers. Creative refresh every 10–14 days to combat fatigue.
Week 7–12: Scale phase. With clear winners identified, we increased budgets on top performers by 40% while maintaining CPL targets. Introduced retargeting sequences for engaged website visitors.
Throughout the campaign, we held weekly check-ins with the Prezent.ai team to share performance updates, gather sales feedback on lead quality, and adjust targeting based on which leads progressed to pipeline.
Understanding Our Audience
We developed detailed audience personas to guide our targeting and messaging. Each persona reflected a real decision-maker profile in Prezent.ai’s ideal customer base.
The Communications Director
“As a Communications Director at a biopharma company, my biggest headache is brand consistency. Every team creates presentations differently — different fonts, different colors, off-message content. I need a solution that enforces our brand standards automatically, not another tool that leaves it to individual judgement.”
Key Pain Points: Brand drift across teams, time-consuming review cycles, compliance risk in regulated content.
Messaging Angle: Brand compliance at scale, automatic enforcement, “no more Frankenstein decks.”
The Medical Affairs VP
“I’m judged on how clearly we communicate complex scientific data to diverse audiences — regulators, physicians, internal leadership. I need presentations that are accurate, compliant, and visually compelling without spending weeks on each deck.”
Key Pain Points: Complex data visualization, regulatory compliance, tight deadlines for high-stakes presentations.
Messaging Angle: Life sciences-specific AI, compliance-ready templates, overnight expert services.
The Chief of Staff
“I support C-suite executives who need board-ready presentations on short notice. The quality bar is sky-high, and there’s no room for inconsistent branding or last-minute formatting fixes. Speed and polish are non-negotiable.”
Key Pain Points: Executive-level quality expectations, compressed timelines, cross-functional coordination.
Messaging Angle: Speed without sacrificing quality, C-suite-ready output, 60-80% time savings.
Observations
Throughout the campaign, we gathered valuable market insights that shaped our approach:
- LinkedIn outperformed Google on lead quality — LinkedIn CPL was 20% higher, but the sales-qualified lead rate was 3x better. Job title targeting proved more valuable than intent-based search for this enterprise product.
- Retargeting was the hidden goldmine — Visitors who saw 2+ ads before converting had a 65% higher attendance rate. Our multi-touch retargeting sequence on LinkedIn became a top performer.
- Creative featuring customer metrics outperformed feature-focused ads — Ads highlighting real results — “70% efficiency gain,” “$1.1M saved” — drove 40% more bookings than ads focused on AI capabilities.
- Life sciences vertical showed 2.5x conversion rate — Despite being our narrowest audience, life sciences targeting delivered the best results. The specialized use case resonated deeply with this segment.
- Weekend B2B advertising was surprisingly efficient — LinkedIn CPCs dropped 35% on weekends with minimal impact on lead quality. We shifted 15% of our budget to weekend flights.
